Our Christmas party is on Monday 19th December. You will recieve a letter with a food or drink request to bring in. Children are able towear suitable party clothes.

Our second Christmas workshop was another successful afternoon with a variety of activities. The adults and children made a variety of things including a giant windmill as a sign for Santa to stop here, a melting snowman biscuit and a door hanger. We sang and played together and showcased the work. We are all getting into the Christmas cheer. Most people were well and truly covered in glitter!

We talked about what the adults and children would like to do in their workshops after the Christmas break. We will share these ideas when we have made a decision.

Our first Christmas craft workshop got off to a great start on Thursday 1st December.The children and adults worked together to make Christmas trees and a huge Christmas wreath made from handprints. We had great fun showing our lovely work off and singing some of our songs for the Nativity performance.

We are looking forward to 2 more workshops before Christmas and then some other different workshops in the next term. Children from the foundation stage with parents/grandparents are welcome to attend. For further information, please speak to Mrs Cable 

Rainbow class stayed quiet for 2 minutes on Friday 11th November at 11.00am to think about the people who have fought for our country and either been injured or lost their lives.

Some children talked about Great grandparents who had fought in the war. We watched a film about Remembrance day, made poppies, painted poppies and created poppy wreaths.

The children were very respectful and interested to learn about this important commemoration. We have created a display in Nursery if you would like to see some of our ideas.

The Early Years curriculum is largely focussed on the children following their interests in the inspiring environment, both indoors and outdoors. Here is a collection of some things the children have chosen to do.

The children have heard the story of 'Rama and Sita' and been learning about how Diwali is celebrated.

We have been learning about the Hindu festival of light called 'Diwali'.

The word Diwali comes from the word deepavali which means 'rows of lighted lamps'

The children dressed up, made clay divas, made Indian food, danced and made crowns for Rama and Sita. We had great fun learning about this festival.

On Wednesday 19th October the Friends of Edgewood organised an Autumn themed disco. The children dressed up and had great fun.They danced, joined in with competitions, ate hot dogs and some had their faces painted. Many parents and families attended the event.

The event raised £627 for the school. This will be used to benefit everyone in school.

We had a lovely time celebrating Harvest time on Wednesday 12th October in the school hall. Many families and friends came to join us. We sang songs and acted out stories. The children looked amazing in their outfits dressed as farmers or scarecrows.

Rev Vanessa Hollingworth told us the story of the 5 loaves and 2 fishes to show us how we could share what we have got.

All the produce donated will be taken to the local project in Hucknall called 'Under one Roof' and shared with families in need.
